Introduction to 3-Gun Competition
This course is taught by a Special Forces veteran with a lengthy and successful career as a competitive shooter at the local, state and national level. It is designed for competent shooters who possess a working knowledge of a semi-automatic pistol,AR-15 style rifle and shotgun, and want to learn how to utilize them in the competitive sport of 3 Gun. The course consists of classroom instruction on firearms safety, match rules, equipment considerations and stage strategy, and culminates with the student safely employing all three firearms in multiple courses of fire under time.
Course Objectives: The student will demonstrate a basic understanding of range safety, range commands, stage strategy, firearm/equipment setup and employment, and proper match mindset.

Training Schedule: Show time 7:30 for those bringing their own rifle (Instructor will inspect and approve for use).

- Firearm transitions
- Target to target transitions
- Practical exercise: Student will safely maneuver through multiple courses of fire with all 3 firearms under time.
Firearms Requirements (Student provided):
- Semi-automatic pistol (full-frame, double-stack 9mm recommended)
- semi-automatic rifle (AR style .223/5.56 recommended)
- Shotgun (12 gauge semi-automatic recommended)
Ammo requirements (Student furnished):
- 200 rounds of rifle ammo
- 200 rounds pistol ammo
- Shotgun - 20 slugs (Low-recoil), 100 bird shot (7.5, 8 or 9 shot) recommended
Prerequisites:
- A fundamental understanding of firearm safety.
- Basic understanding of the pistol, rifle, and shotgun platforms.

- Water / Snacks.
- Hat and gloves.
- Sun Screen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended).
- Seasonal range clothing that appropriate for laying and sitting on ground.
- Rain gear.
- Insect repellent.
- Eye and ear protection.
- Shooting mat (if you have one).
- Elbow pads (recommended).
- Spotting scope that is usable in prone position (if you have one).
- Rifle cleaning equipment for personal rifles.
