Embassy Integration/Strategic Communications
This intensive five day executive-level course is designed specifically for Civil Affairs, Military Information Support Operations/PSYOPS, and Special Operations Teams deploying to a U.S. Embassy. Students learn how to prepare and write DOS/DOD-appropriate documents demonstrating brevity, clarity of thought and purpose; understand the leadership structure and culture of an AOR-specific Embassy; how the worldview and vernacular of Foreign Service Officers critically differs from that of the military; and how to successfully deliver a targeted, strategic message with confidence and credibility to a wide spectrum of audiences -- from a formal 15 minute capabilities brief presented to the Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and members of the country team, to a two-minute walking brief summarizing key points to the Defense Attache (DATT) and Regional Security Officer (RSO) on the way to a KLE, to a chance meeting with the USAID Director or Public Affairs Officer in an Embassy elevator who may not understand why you're in country, but whose opinion of you carries significant weight.

Upon completion of this highly relevant, DOS-focused training course, participants will have the knowledge, experience, skills, confidence, and proven ability to navigate the cross-cultural, inter-agency environment, and demonstrate the professionalism and communication skills required in their roles as Special Operations Soldiers. ** The course can be customized to reflect AOR-specific challenges and desired training emphases, and accommodate from 12- 24 students per class.
Training schedule: Classes start promptly at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm.
Individual equipment (student furnished):
Course includes: 40 hours of instruction and a certificate of completion; HD videotaped student briefings; a professional broadcast television news crew compilation video of media engagements; still photos documenting training.

- write well-crafted documents appropriate to the language, culture and structure of the Inter-Agency
- avoid cross cultural communication pitfalls that can create negative impressions that hinder effectiveness
- manage conflict and confrontation to defuse emotions and promote a strategic outcome
- recognize and leverage group dynamics to achieve a desired result
