Two Day Tactical Pistol
This course is designed for proficient, experienced pistol shooters who want to significantly enhance their marksmanship accuracy and speed for tactical, defensive or competitive application. It includes shooting from the draw, shooting on the move, target transitions, multiple target engagements, shooting from retention and behind cover, shooting in and around vehicles, tactical reloads and malfunction drills. The course also includes an optional stress shoot incorporating tactical movement, obstacle navigation, and testing of fine and gross motor skills under increased heart rate in order to replicate and train for stress responses experienced during a real-world shooting event. Throughout the course students will receive individualized assessment and skill development training, with the student/instructor ratio kept to no more than 7:1. (With larger classes, a second instructor will be added.)
Course Objective: The student will gain a high level of tactical proficiency, accuracy and confidence with the semi-automatic pistol.
Enabling Objectives:
Day One:
Ammo requirements (Student Furnished): 600 rounds of pistol ammunition per person.
Training schedule: When you arrive, please go to Classroom 2 where the instructor will meet you and go through the range safety brief. Instruction begins at 8:00 am each day and ends at 5 pm. A one hour period is allotted for lunch.
Individual equipment (Student Furnished):
Course includes: 16 hours of instruction and a certificate of completion.
* We recommend you wear comfortable shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt that you don’t mind getting dirty

- Diagnostic shooting evaluation
- Fundamentals of pistol marksmanship (Level I refresher)
- Reloading and malfunction drills
- The draw and proper presentation to the target
- Tactical use of the prone, kneeling, and standing positions
- Multiple shots and multiple targets
- Shooting on the move (laterally/straight on)
- Shooting from behind barricades and covered positions
- Shooting from inside and around vehicles
- Training methodology and drills

- Belt with holster and magazine pouches
- Knee and elbow pads (optional)
- Weapon cleaning kit
- Rain or inclement weather gear
- Eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lens are recommended)
- Water/Snacks (1 hour lunch break)
- Hat/Gloves
- Sun screen (non-greasy or water resistant recommended)
