One Day Tactical Shotgun
The introduction to Tactical Shotgun course is designed to increase the athlete’s current skill level when employing the shotgun. This course will equip you with the tools to effectively, safely, and competently employ the most versatile firearm ever made. Regardless of whether you have used a shotgun for years as a hunter, competitor, for home defense, or in a Law Enforcement / Military capacity, this course will significantly improve your skills, confidence and performance under pressure.
.The course will consist of approximately 1 hour of classroom instruction on firearm safety, firearm operation, and the cognitive aspects of shotgun employment. Classroom instruction is followed by 7 hours of progressively challenging drills where the athlete will employ the shotgun from a variety of shooting positions while under stress. These drills will force the athlete to “Think” while manipulating the shotgun. Upon completion of this course the athlete will have a thorough understanding of firearm safety, shotgun manipulation, and the ability to properly identify how to employ the shotgun based on the target presented.
Course Objective: The student will gain a high level of confidence in their ability to safely and effectively employ the shotgun in a variety of situations.
Enabling Objectives:
Ammo requirements (Student Furnished):
Prerequisite: A basic understanding of firearms safety and operation.
Training schedule: Show time is 7:30 am with instruction starting at 8:00 am and ending at 5 pm. A one hour period is allotted for lunch.
Individual equipment (Student Furnished):

- Action types and Cycle of Operation (Pump-action and Semi-auto)
- Ammunition and Choke selection
- Zeroing and Pattering
- Fundamentals of Shotgun employment
- Combat and Tactical Reloads
- Malfunction drills
- Slug Changeover
- Non-standard shooting positions
Ammo requirements (Student Furnished):
- Slugs – 15
- 00 Buckshot – 25
- Birdshot – 200 (#8 or #9)

- Pump or Semi-Auto Shotgun (12gauge or 20 gauge)
- Side Saddle (optional) * Mounts to receiver for additional rounds on the shotgun.
- Shell caddies for belt or chest rig with shell holders (optional)
- Knee and elbow pads (optional)
- Rain or inclement weather gear
- Eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lens are recommended)
- Water/Snacks (1 hr lunch break)
- Hat/Gloves
- Sun screen
