Women’s Introductory Pistol

Limited to women and girls over the age of 12, this introductory course requires no prior firearms experience. It’s perfect for ladies who want to know how to load, unload, and shoot accurately & safely. Taught by a highly qualified female instructor, the course is designed to build confidence in the safe handling and basic operation of a semi-automatic or revolver-type pistol.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

Students who complete the course will have gained significant knowledge of how to handle (load and unload), draw, and shoot a handgun safely and accurately from distances of up to 10 yards.

Required gear and ammo

  • Semi-auto pistol with 3 magazines or revolver with 4 speed loaders
  • 100 rounds of pistol ammunition
  • Magazine/speed loader pouches
  • Holster strongly recommended
  • Gun belt or a strong belt that will support the holster (khakis, jeans, tactical pants, and pants that will secure the belt)
  • Eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lenses are recommended)

Additional required items (student supplied)

  • Rain or inclement weather gear
  • Water and snacks
  • Hat and gloves
  • Sunscreen (non-greasy or water-resistant recommended)

We recommend you wear comfortable shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt that you don’t mind getting dirty.

Level I Pistol

The Level 1 Pistol Course is designed to increase the skill level of any pistol shooter. Upon completion of the course, the student will have a thorough understanding of firearm safety, firearm operation, and the ability to engage multiple targets at distances up to 25yards.

Course Objective

The student will gain a high level of confidence in the safe handling and operation of a semi-automatic pistol and show a marked improvement in accuracy, precision, and speed of target engagement.

Ammo requirements (Student Furnished)

500 rounds of pistol ammunition per person.

Prerequisite

A moderate level of knowledge and proficiency with a semi automatic pistol Individual Equipment (Student Furnished)

  • Pistol with a minimum of 2 magazines
  • Belt with holster and magazine pouches
  • Weapons cleaning kit with oil
  • Eye and ear protection (clear and shaded lenses are recommended)
  • Hat and gloves
  • Rain or inclement weather gear
  • Sunscreen (non-greasy or water-resistant recommended

TWO-DAY TACTICAL PISTOL

This course is designed for proficient, experienced pistol shooters who want to significantly enhance their marksmanship accuracy and speed for tactical, defensive, or competitive application. It includes shooting from the draw, shooting on the move, target transitions,  multiple target engagements, shooting from retention & behind cover, shooting in & around vehicles, tactical reloads, and malfunction drills.The course also includes an optional stress shoot incorporating tactical movement, obstacle navigation, and testing of fine and gross motor skills under increased heart rate in order to replicate and train for stress responses experienced during a real-world shooting event.Throughout the course, students will receive individualized assessment and skill development training, with the student/instructor ratio kept to no more than 7:1. (With larger classes, a second instructor will be added.)

  • Weapon cleaning kit

  • Water and snacks (1-hour lunch break)
  • Hat and gloves
  • Sunscreen (non-greasy or water-resistant recommended)

RED DOT SIGHT PISTOL TRANSITION

The Red Dot Sight (RDS) Pistol course is designed for shooters who have made or are currently transitioning from pistol iron sights to red dot sights. This course is for shooters who have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship and are looking to transition their sight. The classroom portion of the course will cover proper mounting techniques and include a talk-through demonstration. Here, students will have the opportunity to properly mount and adjust their RDS if needed. The remaining time will be spent on the range learning techniques that will enable the shooter to employ the RDS efficiently and effectively.

  • Slide-mounted red dot pistol
  • 300 rounds of reliable ammunition
  • 4 magazines (3 magazines is sufficient for course, but 4 is recommended)
  • Safe and reliable holster (no Serpas or old leather holsters)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Black sharpie pen
  • Open mind and willingness to learn
  • Water and snacks
  • Sunscreen
  • Rain gear

Prerequisites

Completion of a Level I Pistol course from TRC or documentation showing completion of equivalent course from elsewhere.
